Questo documentario esplora lo spirito appassionato del maestro indiano Sanjay Kansa Banik, componente dell’Orchestra di Piazza Vittorio. Un musicista molto noto in campo internazionale per la propria abilità e conoscenza delle Tabla, il più classico degli strumenti di percussione indiana. Sanjay Kansa Banik, in questo viaggio affascinante tra Italia e India, si racconta equilibrando velocità, maestria e maturità e contribuendo così alla diffusione della Cultura e della Musica indiana nel mondo.
Simone Marian. Nato a Roma, attore, produttore e autore. Realizza cortometraggi che partecipano a numerosi festival nazionali e internazionali incluso il film market Festival di Clermont-Ferrand (Francia). Tra questi, nel 2005 come autore del corto “La Bicicletta” vincitore di numerosi festival Italiani, particolarmente focalizzato sull’integrazione dei popoli e la diversità. Nel 2006 produce e interpreta “Iram La città dalle Alte Colonne” cortometraggio tratto da un testo di Kahlil Gibran, premio della critica Akab film Festival 2006. Nel 2007 realizza “Il Giocoliere” selezionato per un world tour da IFCT Festival 2007 di Miami (USA), un omaggio agli artisti di strada. Nel 2008 debutta alla regia con il cortometraggio “L’Artista” dove recita il ruolo maschile principale. Nel 2011 autore, produttore e interprete del corto “The Father”, sul tema della pedofilia. “A Journey on the Tabla” è il suo primo documentario, totalmente indipendente.
This documentary takes you on a fascinating journey through Italy and India to discover and explore the passionate spirit of Indian Master, Sanjay Kansa Banik, member of the roman-based ethnic band “Orchestra di Piazza Vittorio”. The incredible talent and versatility of this world- renowned musician, best known for his skills and knowledge of the Tabla-the most classic of all Indian percussion instruments – developed over the years of collaboration with musicians of all genres and from all over the world. The film tells the story of Sanjay and how: his deep understanding of music and his extraordinary skills together with his artistic maturity have contributed to spreading Indian culture and music in the world.
Born in Rome, Simone Mariani is actor, producer and author. His short films have participated in numerous national and international festivals including the Festival film market in Clermont – Ferrand (France). He is the author of short film “The Bicycle” (2005) which won numerous festivals in Italy and which focuses on exploring the integration of people and diversity on a thematic level. In 2006 he produced and acted in a short film “Iram la città dalle alte colonne”, which is an interpretation of a text by Kahlil Gibran. This film won a Critics Award Akab film Festival in 2006. He is the author of “The Juggler” (2007), a tribute to street artists; this film was selected for a world tour by IFCT Festival 2007 in Miami (USA ). In 2008 he debuted as a director with the short film ” The Artist ” where he also played the leading male part. He is the author, producer and performer of the short “The Father ” (2011) on the subject of pedophilia. “A Journey on the Tabla” is his first documentary film.
