La giornata di Richard è un viaggio ininterrotto per la sopravvivenza. Procurarsi l’acqua, recuperare preziose gocce di nafta dalle tubature, provare a rivenderlo ai bordi della strada, andare a scuola, studiare nel dormitorio, ripartire in cerca d’acqua… Per poter proseguire gli studi e rompere il circolo vizioso in cui è intrappolato, Richard non può mai fermarsi. Sullo sfondo, la regione del delta del Niger, lo sfruttamento delle compagnie petrolifere e, tutto intorno, povertà. / For Richard, life is an unending cyclical journey to scratch out a living. Fetch water, take diesel from the pipeline, try to sell it by the side of the road, go to school, study in the dorm, fetch water again. If he wants to reach his goal – to get his education and use it to break out of the vicious circle of his life – he can’t stop.

Un piccolo cane randagio nelle strade Guangzhou, conduce lo spettatore in un viaggio imprevedibile, rivelando un’insieme di storie che riflettono l’autenticità e talvolta l’assurdità della condizione dei giovani lavoratori, immigrati nella metropoli cinese dalle campagne, e in genere degli abitatori dei bassifondi cittadini. / A stray dog in the streets of Guangzhou, leads the viewer into an unpredictable, peculiar and incredible journey, revealing a wealth of stories that reflects both the authenticity and occasional absurdity of the living situations of migrant workers and of those who otherwise live “below the line.”
