Skopje, Macedonia. Con l\u2019economia in recessione e lo stipendio in ritardo di mesi Vele, un meccanico che lavora in un deposito ferroviario, lotta ogni giorno per poter comprare le medicine al padre malato. Quando trova casualmente un pacchetto di marijuana nascosta su un treno in arrivo, lo ruba per fare una torta a suo padre, sperando di alleviarne i dolori e spacciandogliela come un nuovo trattamento sperimentale. Ben presto la voce sui miracolosi poteri curativi di Vele si diffonde e lui all\u2019improvviso si trova messo alle strette da una coppia di gangster, alla ricerca della droga, e dai petulanti vicini che fanno la coda fuori dal suo appartamento per reclamare la ricetta della torta \u201cdei miracoli\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Note di regia.<\/strong> \u00abSono stato testimone della lotta della gente comune nel mio Paese. In quei tempi selvaggi, il neoliberismo in salsa balcanica aveva ridotto i nostri valori a una lotta per accaparrarsi quanto pi\u00f9 denaro e quanto pi\u00f9 potere possibile e \u2014 per citare un personaggio del film \u2014 il resto che andasse al diavolo. I farmaci erano insufficienti e gli ospedali privati traevano enormi profitti cercando di spremere al centesimo i cittadini malati e pi\u00f9 disperati. I bambini morivano alla nascita e l\u2019aria era inquinata. La gente cercava conforto nell\u2019astrologia, nelle teoria della cospirazione e nelle scommesse. I guaritori fasulli si moltiplicavano: armati di pillole sbiancate dai poteri miracolosi, \u201cacqua intelligente\u201d e dolci alle spezie, offrivano il niente a cifre affatto inferiori. Ma ci\u00f2 che costa meno pare di certo meglio, quando lo stipendio \u00e8 in ritardo. Ironicamente, l\u2019umorismo serv\u00ec da antidoto a quei tempi grigi. Usato come una specie di judo dell\u2019anima, la gente impar\u00f2 a ridere delle proprie disgrazie, disinnescando le proprie tristi vite. Ed \u00e8 cos\u00ec che nasce la mia storia: pagina dopo pagina, come due navi in rotta di collisione, l\u2019umorismo e il dolore si sfidano in duello. L\u2019umorismo \u00e8 pi\u00f9come un sottomarino, che riemerge quando meno te lo aspetti e attacca ferocemente il dolore ipocrita, che con orgoglio solca le acque agitate dell\u2019ingiustiza del vivere\u00bb, <\/span>Gjorce Stavreski.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Biografia del regista.<\/strong> Gjorce Stavreski (Skopje, Repubblica di Macedonia, 1978) si \u00e8 diplomato in regia alla Facolt\u00e0 di Arti Drammatiche a Skopje. \u00c8 un apprezzato professionista dell\u2019audiovisivo, con all\u2019attivo film, documentari e (oltre 100) spot commerciali, in qualit\u00e0 di regista, produttore e sceneggiatore. I suoi film sono stati presentati in numerosi festival in giro per il mondo, dove hanno ricevuto importanti riconoscimenti. Da bambino \u00e8 stato un prodigio della matematica e ha ricevuto il prestigioso premio internazionale \u201c13 novembre\u201d per la matematica e le scienze. Dice di s\u00e9: \u00abSono un appassionato fotografo, uno dei fondatori della compagnia di produzione Fragment Film e un fanatico del Sudoku\u00bb.<\/span><\/div>\n

Skopje, Macedonia. With the economy in recession and wage payments months overdue Vele, a mechanic who work in a train depot, struggles to afford medicine for his ailing father afflicted with a cancer. When he accidentally finds in a wagon a packet of marijuana, clandestinely smuggled and hidden on an incoming train, he steals it to make a cake for his father, to relieve his pains and passing it off as an experimental new treatment. Soon the grapevine is buzzing with news of Vele\u2019s miraculous healing powers and he suddenly finds himself cornered by an odd-couple of gangster goons on the trail of the drugs and the nosy neighbors who queue outside his apartment door to clamor the recipe for the \u201chealing\u201d cake.<\/span><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Direction’s statements.<\/strong> \u00abI have witnessed the struggle of common people in my country. In those wild times, the Balkan flavored neoliberalism reduced our human values to grabbing as much money and power as possible and \u2014 let me quote a character from the film \u2014 the rest could go to hell. Medicine was in short supply and private hospitals were making huge profits squeezing every penny from sick and desperate people. Babies were dying at birth and air got polluted. People turned to astrology, conspiracy theories and betting. Fake healers boomed: armed with miracle bleach pills, \u201csmart water\u201d and space cakes, they offered nothing for less money. But less is more when the salary is long overdue. Ironically, the humor served as an antidote to our grey reality. By using it as a kind of mental judo, folks learned to laugh at their pain so they can disarm their grim lives. And that\u2019s how my story was born: page after page, like two ships heading for a collision, the humor and the pain fought a battle in my script. The humor was more like a submarine, surfacing when you least expect it and viciously attacking the self-righteous pain sailing proudly in the rough waters of life\u2019s unfairness\u00bb, <\/span>Gjorce Stavreski.<\/span><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

About the director.<\/strong> Gjorce Stavreski (Skopje, Republic of Macedonia, 1978) graduated from the Department of folm direction at the Faculty of Dramatic Arts in Skopje. He is an awarded film and video professional who has made films, documentaries and (over 100) commercials, working as director, producer and screenwriter. His films were shown on many festivals throughout the world where he has won international awards. He was a math prodigy as a kid and is a recipient of a prestigious national award \u201c13th of November\u201d for math and sciences. About himself he says: \u00abI\u2019m an avid photographer, a founder of Fragment Film production company and a Sudoku nerd\u00bb.<\/span><\/em><\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
