Disillusa dalla vita e senza un lavoro, la giovane Petrunya si ritrova per caso nel mezzo di un\u2019affollata cerimonia religiosa riservata agli uomini: una croce di legno viene lanciata nel fiume e chi la recupera avr\u00e0 un anno di felicit\u00e0 e prosperit\u00e0. Con aria di sfida, anche Petrunya si getta in acqua, riuscendo a prendere la croce per prima, nello scandalo generale: mai a una donna era stato permesso di partecipare all\u2019evento e tanto meno di vincere. Tutto il paese sembra unito nel chiederle di restituire la croce, con le buone o con le cattive, ma Petrunya \u00e8 decisa a non arrendersi e a tenerla con s\u00e9 a ogni costo\u2026 Ispirato a un evento realmente accaduto, il film consacra la regista come una delle voci femminili pi\u00f9 originali del cinema di oggi. Film rivelazione ai Festival di Berlino e Torino, DIO \u00c8 DONNA E SI CHIAMA PETRUNYA unisce impegno e ironia in una storia al femminile dalla forza dirompente.

\n<\/span>Every January in a small town in North Macedonia, the high priest throws a cross into the local waters, while dozens of men charge for it. The one who finds the cross is believed to gain overall good fortune and prosperity. An unemployed single young woman Petrunija jumps into the water and catches the cross. In this conservative setting, her competitors feel they have every right to be furious: a woman dared to compete and achieve what they failed to succeed in. Petrunija insists that she is the winner and refuses to return the cross.
