ITA. Lungo un corso d’acqua inquinato vicino Shanghai, Mardar guida la sua moto ogni giorno, trasportando Moudan, la figlia adolescente di un criminale locale. Nonostante il suo amore segreto per la ragazza, viene coinvolto in un piano per rapirla e trattenerla per un riscatto. Il piano va storto, tuttavia, e Moudan si getta nel fiume e sparisce nelle sue acque. Uscito di prigione diversi anni pi\u00f9 tardi, Mardar incontra in un locale una ballerina che assomiglia esattamente al suo amore perduto.

IL RESTAURO DEL FILM: \u201cOgni progetto di restauro \u00e8 un prototipo. Non esiste un manuale, soprattutto quando si lavora su film di altri background culturali. Spesso paragono il lavoro di restauro a quello di un archeologo, che trova i pezzi rotti, li rimette insieme e poi, vedendone la forma, riempie le parti mancanti. Restaurare un film significa cercare di capire non solo il background culturale, ma anche il tempo in cui \u00e8 stato prodotto e ci\u00f2 che circondava la produzione. \u00c8 abbastanza intimo. Esamini il lavoro del regista al microscopio. Lavorare su SUZHOU RIVER \u00e8 stato speciale, poich\u00e9 sono stato in grado di comunicare con Lou Ye e il suo assistente alla regia Ying Li durante l\u2019intero processo. Un\u2019opportunit\u00e0 come questa stabilisce un quadro chiaro per il restauro. Durante queste sessioni, abbiamo discusso generalmente dell\u2019approccio del regista, e tutto quello che avrebbero voluto fare al momento della produzione ma che non era permesso o tecnicamente impossibile da ottenere. Despite his secret love for the young girl, he gets caught up in a scheme to kidnap her and hold her for ransom. The plan goes awry, however, and Moudan throws herself into the river and drowns. Mardar emerges from prison years later and encounters a nightclub entertainer who looks exactly like his lost love.
