Il racconto in prima persona di un attore, ex-internato in uno di questi ospedali, s\u2019intreccia con le riprese effettuate, senza preavviso, in questi luoghi &#8220;dimenticati&#8221; anche dallo Stato. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"sinossi\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; color: #666699;\"><em>In Italy there are 6 OPG, commonly called criminal asylums, in which about 1500 people are locked up. The first-person account of an actor, ex-inmate in one of these hospitals, is intertwined with scenes filmed, without prior notice, in these places that have been &#8220;forgotten&#8221; about even by the State. These facilities have remained substantially extraneous and impermeable to the reformed psychiatric culture, and the mechanism of detention has not been effected by the law passed in 1978 that called for the closure of psychiatric hospitals. Guardando molto intensamente e da vicino a qualcosa, diciamo un albero, \u00e8 come essere trascinati all&#8217;interno dell\u2019atto della vita reale di leggere il mondo. Questo tipo di fenomeni esperienziali riguarda concetti di presenza e assenza, interconnessi e in funzione simultaneamente.<br \/> Sfumature e variet\u00e0 di forme dell\u2019esperienza percettiva e di osservazione si colgono sia in <em>People Reading<\/em> di Robin Plunkett che in <em>Lift<\/em>\u00a0di Myriam Van Imschoot. Questi lavori molto \u201cquieti\u201d e finemente \u201caccordati\u201d introducono bene\u00a0la seconda parte del programma, con proiezioni ed evento live, incentrata sulla strategia di Alex Mendizabal di rendere i film muti (i cortometraggi di Neil Taylor, Lee Smith e Marcus Bergner) ancora pi\u00f9 silenziosi, senza dover\u00a0dotare il pubblico di tappi per le orecchie. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"sinossi\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #666699;\"><em><span style=\"font-size: 10pt;\">Each film in this program, and the live intervention that accompanies it, has something to do with traveling either allegorically, literally, architecturally, abstractly, graphically or acoustically. Notably while reading one can, if one\u2019s lucky, hear and sense one\u2019s thoughts traveling away almost silently below or above the act of reading itself: thoughts become both disengaged and engaged simultaneously. Looking very intensely and closely at something, say at a tree for instance, is like being carried along within the real life action of reading the world. These kind of experiential events or qualities involve aspects of presence and absence intermixing and operating simultaneously. Subtleties and manifestations in terms of such perceptual and observational experience are connected and deflected within both Robin Plunkett\u2019s People Reading and Myriam Van Imschoot\u2019s LIFT. Such finely tuned and, in fact, \u2018quite quiet\u2019 films aptly introduce and provide preparatory groundwork for the second part of this screening and live event.
