L\u2019utopia della rivoluzione pan-araba lo conduce a Beirut, la citta che un tempo era il simbolo delle speranze e delle lotte di tutto il mondo arabo. Storia di rivoluzioni, di un amore impossibile, di incontri mancati e di cose che si avvicinano e allontanano. Rivoluzione Zanj di Tariq Teguia \u00e8 un cinema che scava nel passato lontano, per far riaffiorare energie presenti e che crea uno spazio nuovo fra il documentario e l\u2019inchiesta storica.<\/span><\/p>\n Tariq Teguia \u00e8 nato ad Algeri nel 1966, ha studiato filosofia e arti plastiche, fotoreporter e insegnante presso l\u2019Accademia di belle arti di Algeri. Zanji Revolution \u00e8 il suo terzo lungometraggio. I precedenti Roma piuttosto che voi (2006) e Gabbla \u2013 Inland (2008), sono stati presentati in Italia alla Mostra del cinema di Venezia. A T\u00e9guia \u00e8 stata dedicata quest’anno al Centre Pompidou una retrospettiva integrale.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n ENGLISH VERSION<\/p>\n Movie. Ibn Battuta works as a journalist for an Algerian daily newspaper. While covering community clashes in Southern Algeria, he finds himself incidentally picking up\u00a0the trail of long forgotten Zanj uprisings against the Abbasid Caliphate, back in 9th century Iraq. For the purpose of his investigation he goes to Beirut, a city that used to embody the hopes and struggles of the Arab World. Elsewhere on the map, Nahla, a young Palestinian whose family has found refuge in Greece, heads for Beirut, which her father, a nationalist activist, had had to flee after the 1982 defeat to the Israeli army. No room here for any nostalgic thoughts on past struggles, but the need to find her own way and take funds to other Palestinians, like Rami who is stranded in the Shatila refugee camp.<\/i><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n Director. The Algerian photographer and filmmaker Tariq Teguia, born in 1966, has not only been his country\u2019s most important director but also one of the most significant political chroniclers of the so-called \u201cArab Spring.\u201d Rather than directly documenting historical events, however, he is a politicalaesthetic researcher, a storyteller and narrator of lost and repressed Arab identity.
