Wiseman\u2019s 42st feature-length documentary,\u00a0IN JACKSON HEIGHTS, explores the conflict between maintaining ties to old traditions and adapting to American values.<\/span><\/p>\n

Frederick Wiseman, probably the greatest living documentary filmmaker, will turn\u00a086 on New Year\u2019s Day. But he has no plans to put his feet up this year, or indeed any time soon. A film career that began with the notorious Titicut Follies in 1967, for which he ventured inside a Massachusetts hospital for the criminally insane, is still in rude health \u2013 doggedly poking its nose into every nook of human culture and behaviour that is available for inspection.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
